Why June 15th?

We were careful in choosing June 15, 2013 as our wedding date because in Newfoundland, there is the possibility to see several wonderful natural occurrences around that date: icebergs, puffins, whales and maybe even capelin! Not to mention the weather is great this time of year.

Also, we didn't realize it when we picked this date, but it is the wedding anniversary of Virginia's Grandparents Beverly & Frank "Buzz" Berry (may they rest in peace).

Icebergs in Bonavista

Late spring and early summer are the best times to catch the iceberg pieces floating in the bays.

Puffins

In June and July the puffins come into shore to lay eggs.

Whales

The whales are cruising the bays during their migration this time of year. Great time to watch for breaching whales in the harbor.

Capelin

Capelin (in the smelt family) "roll in" on the beaches this time of year. You can take a net down to the shore and catch them by the bucketful!
